What are 40 qualifying quarters?
Workers earn up to four Social Security quarters per year. Forty quarters is roughly ten years of work. A spouse can be credited with quarters the other spouse worked during the marriage, which can end the obligation sooner.
Can the immigrant sue the sponsor to enforce support?
