Frequently Asked Questions

How much is CPP Disability?
CPP-D combines a flat-rate portion paid to everyone plus 75% of the CPP retirement pension you earned through contributions, up to an annual maximum. Recipients with dependent children also receive a flat children's benefit per child.
What is the children's benefit under CPP Disability?
If you receive CPP-D and have dependent children (under 18, or 18โ€“25 in full-time study), each child receives a flat monthly children's benefit. It is a fixed amount per child, not tied to your earnings.
Who qualifies for CPP Disability?
You must have a severe and prolonged disability that prevents substantially gainful work, be under 65, and meet the contributory requirement (generally valid contributions in 4 of the last 6 years).
Do CPP-D amounts change every year?
Yes. The flat-rate portion, maximum benefit, and children's benefit are indexed to inflation and adjusted each January. This is a current-year estimate.
