Judges in small claims court tend to award less than superior court for comparable injuries.

Each province caps the total claim. Ontario allows up to $50,000, BC allows up to $35,000, Alberta up to $50,000, Saskatchewan up to $30,000, and most other provinces between $10,000–$25,000. If your total claim exceeds the limit, you can reduce your claim to fit the court or transfer to a higher court.
